Jadarrius Perkins Enters Transfer Portal

Florida Gators DB/STAR Jadarrius Perkins entered the transfer portal Thursday afternoon. The coaching staff anticipated the news as Perkins is dealing with some things off the field. I also believe he saw the writing on the wall that his role was gonna be diminishing. With his departure, you're gonna see a lot more of senior Jaydon Hill and true freshman Sharif Denson.

Jadarrius was a late addition to the 2021 class after originally being an early enrollee at Missouri out of junior college. He entered the transfer portal after spring practice and Dan Mullen recruited him to Florida as a cornerback. He had a little bit of an up and down career as he made some big plays, but also gave up some big plays as well. His departure hurts the depth a little bit, but the staff is gonna rotate different guys at the spot to continue to build depth at the position.

Hill is gonna take over the starting role at STAR with Denson backing him up. Hill rotated in with Perkins during the game against Utah last Thursday night. He seemed to have more success than Perkins during the game when he was out there. Last season he had a pick six against Missouri, so he's definitely put his ball skills on display.

Earlier this week, Billy Napier said Sharif Denson would have a bigger role on defense. The freshman from Bartram Trail High School in Jacksonville, Florida was one of the most heavily recruited players in the country with offers from Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State and Miami among many others. He has the ability to play all 3 spots in the secondary. With Corey Raymond coaching him, I have no doubt that he has a chance to develop into special player.
